I think you’ll agree that, now that we’ve dipped our toes into the taxonomy pool, we’re starting to understand the scope. I’ll reiterate that every analytics project will involve people, data, systems and tools, and corporate needs. Since our focus in this chapter is data – in a deep dive – then to understand the scope, we need to look at data and people, data and systems, data and tools, and data and corporate needs.
If your project is internal and your company is 10 years old and has been collecting and storing data for six of those years, you may have a lot of historical data. This is the ideal situation but, unfortunately, is still not a reality for most companies across the globe.
