As we saw in the stakeholder blueprint earlier, we get the names of people who support the stakeholder and will be interviewed. Look at the following figure, and then I’ll explain the best practice involved:

The best possible outcome in 99% of situations is realized when we hit that sweet spot in the middle. It’s there that the organization and the individual understand each other’s needs and agree on a path forward.
This is why we interview the stakeholder first and then the users or support personnel. We don’t act on anything said by the stakeholder – we just listen and do our absolute best to understand and write out the problems and the ask. Now we have the truth from the business.
