For both the exam and your career as an AWS networking specialist, you should be able to design DNS solutions in public, private, and hybrid systems. In this chapter, you have covered what the DNS is, a little bit about its history, its architecture, how the protocol operates, and the major types of RRs such as A, CNAME, MX, and SOA. You have also seen how the DNS is a distributed database, how the TLDs are managed by registries, and how the subdomains of the TLDs are owned by individual organizations. The section on DNS components is foundational information and if you studied it carefully, you will have noticed that the subsequent information in the chapter was much easier to understand and absorb. This was by design, and you will find that that foundation will continue to serve you for years to come.
