In terms of this certification guide, and AWS in general, a third-party network could be considered any network that exists outside of the control of yourself or your organization. A third-party network is not classified by the way in which it connects to your network but by the operational control and responsibility of the network and its traffic. It is rarely worth sparing a thought for what sort of deployments, routing protocols, and designs a third-party network has; only consider what traffic it is sending to and receiving from your own network, and how to integrate the connectivity between the two.
