In talking with Anshel Sag, principal analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy (https://www.linkedin.com/in/anshel-sag-7484127/), it became clear just how far away 6G is, to come about sometime in 2029 or 2030. But we have 5G now, which is only halfway through its standardization and adoption. The 5G we have now will be much better toward the end of 2024 for Spatial Computing. The reason is a technical one; more operators are expected to adopt what’s called “standalone 5G” or “advanced 5G,” which is a 5G frontend with a 5G backend, rather than “non-standalone 5G,” which is a 5G frontend with a 4G backend. This is included with release 18 for 5G.
