We soon will live in a digital ant farm, or, as we put it, the “bubbleland.” We came up with the term after watching how autonomous cars see the world. Each has a digital bubble around it, beyond which it cannot see. Humans work the same way, but we don’t think of our perception systems that way, sometimes believing that we can even sense the unseen. In the digital world of Spatial Computing, in the case of glasses, robots, virtual beings, and autonomous vehicles, however, their perception systems are limited to what their cameras and 3D sensors can see.
Are they really limited that way? If you throw millions of such little bubbles onto a city, are there many places that a bubble doesn’t touch? No.
