Understanding the remove, replace, and add actions

The three actions remove, replace, and add can be performed together as you work through the rough cut. In fact, you will also find that you might be tempted to smoothen the edit points as well, but stay away from changing the pacing until the other steps have been completed.

Note

For your peace of mind, note that when you remove or trim clips from the timeline, they are only removed from the project. The source clips in your library are not changed and you can always go back to them in the browser.

You may not have that many clips to remove, as candidates for removal should largely have been weeded out before getting to the rough cut. Also, keep in mind that it may not be the whole clip you need to remove, in which case you can just shorten the clip and leave just the important scenes in the timeline. As another alternative to removing, you can replace clips with others from the browser. The added advantage of replacing is...
