Updating macOS and Final Cut Pro

There is synergy between your Mac computer and Final Cut Pro. It goes without saying that you need to understand some macOS functionality to be able to successfully diagnose issues that occur when using Final Cut Pro.

It’s imperative that you have a good understanding of how files and folders work in macOS and how Final Cut Pro stores its files in the Users folder of your system disk. See Chapter 1, It’s All about the Media, where we located plug-ins in the Motion templates folder. Out-of-date and faulty plug-ins are the most likely cause of problems in Final Cut Pro, as you will see when you start to diagnose the issues that Final Cut Pro throws up.

But before anything else, the most important first step is to make sure that your Final Cut Pro application and your macOS are both up to date. Many features of Final Cut Pro require certain versions of macOS to be able to work.
