Working with Learning Paths and Certifications

Until now, you have always assumed that learners enroll in courses (actually, course instances, as discussed in the previous section). In this section, you will discover that, although this is often the case, it is not always true. There are many examples where it makes sense to group courses and enroll learners in a series of courses rather than a single course. These include the following:

  • You offer different levels of courses on the same subject (for example, photography level 1 and photography level 2) and you want to allow learners to enroll in the full curriculum in one go.
  • You want to split longer courses into chapters, but Learning Manager does not provide such a chaptering concept. You can work around this limitation by grouping multiple courses and treating each course as a chapter of a larger curriculum.
  • Your organization implements internal certifications to allow employees to become trainers, managers, or whatever...
