Seamless single sign-on (sometimes written as Seamless SSO or SSSO) automatically signs the user into Entra ID when they are using corporate devices connected to their organization’s corporate network. After it’s been enabled, users no longer need to enter their passwords when browsing Entra-authenticated services such as Microsoft 365.
Seamless SSO is available to be combined with either PHS or PTA sign-in methods. Seamless SSO works by leveraging Kerberos delegation to an AD computer account (named AZUREADSSOACC
in the local directory). Through the sign-in process, a native application or browser session requests a Kerberos ticket for the AZUREADSSOACC
computer account and presents it to Entra ID along with the user’s identity as proof that the user is logged into an AD domain.
Seamless SSO can be enabled through the Entra Connect setup wizard using the following process:
