In this chapter, you learned about workload identities. You explored the types of applications that might be present in your Azure tenant, which identity types are available for authentication and authorization to Azure resources, and learned ways to create and manage both system-assigned and user-assigned managed identities.
It’s important to remember that, when considering workload identities, system-assigned managed identities are the best option if the resource supports it. This is because they are both more secure and automatically managed, reducing administrative burden. The next best option is a user-assigned managed identity. This must be managed by the administrator but is still more secure than a simple user account.
In the next chapter, you will begin working with Enterprise applications.
