Designing the Adobe InDesign Way
By :

When you are working with InDesign, it is quite common that you will want to use the same colors on more than one document. For example, the colors that appear in corporate brand guidelines should always be the same and shouldn’t change every time they are used in a different document. Reusing your color swatches across multiple documents is a good way to ensure this consistency.
In this recipe, I’ll show you how to export your color swatches from InDesign as an Adobe Swatch Exchange File (.ase
) and how to reload the .ase
file back into another document. We will also look at a useful trick for setting up default swatches that appear in every new document by default.
In addition to their use for quickly loading and sharing colors, ASE files can also be useful for keeping a backup of your brand colors, which can be useful should you ever have system issues.
To complete this recipe, simply open InDesign on your system...
