Using the mental model map


The mental model map helps us to find new ways to support our users. To be able to do this, we need to place the existing solutions on the mental model map, and ask the question can we create something that would make the user's life better, happier or easier in this mental space?

Another use of the mental model map is to improve existing solutions. For example, based on this mental model map, the search should include aggregated reviews of the cars at the results page, while detailed specifications, cost breakdown, and insurance on the car details page. It should enable easy side-by-side comparison. The personal preferences might suggest an add to favorites feature, while the look and feel might be enhanced with high-quality pictures and videos. 

If people don't really need some of our existing features, we can hide them or even remove them. Instead of designing many features, we should always design use-cases, supported by the mental model of our users.
