Communication Toolkit for Introverts
By :

"I like the fact that "LISTEN" is an anagram of "SILENT". | ||
--Alfred Brendel, classical pianist |
It might seem counter-intuitive but when we listen more than talk, our voice will be better heard. We all want to be listened to more and better.
If we are a writer, we want the reader to ''listen' better to what we are trying to communicate.
As a speaker, we want the audience to listen better.
As a teacher, we hope our students will listen better.
We want our peers, our customers, our coworkers, our staff, and even our managers to listen better.
Why? Because we want to be heard.
Wong says, "Introverts may spend more time not speaking, but they may or may not do more things that actively encourage others to think and feel and to express those thoughts and feelings." We have been revealing just what those things are to make listening an active process with these very results.
Just how is it that listening though can help us to get our voice heard?
