The Art of Manufacturing
By :

Planning and executing movement are daily activities that are very important for maintaining schedules and appointments. For example, leaving home using a small vehicle, reaching the metro station, moving from the destination metro station to your place of work, and clocking in at the entry gate needs no small amount of planning and coordination. The first step is to (mentally) plot the time at which you need to be at the different nodes—home, metro station A, metro station B, entrance to work—and the distance between these points and therefore the speed at which you need to move in the different stages of the daily commute. Depending on the speed, you would choose the appropriate mode when setting off from home, such as walking, cycling, or motorcycling. Then you can plan the speed at which you need to move—how fast you must walk or drive the bike.
