You may have heard the terms 8-bit, 16-bit, or HDR, and been confused about how to choose between them and utilize them in your editing…or may not even know what they are. In this section, we will offer up a simple basic explanation of these terms and share with you the best settings based on my experience as an editor so you know when to use what.
The reason I wanted to include this in the advanced chapter is, thus far, we have been dealing with simple 8-bit color modes, and for basic screen-based edits, this is more than adequate. However, as you grow as an editor, you may want to take your images further, so let’s get started.
