Types of debugging runs with Jenkins

We need to have a test that checks the reliability of the automation framework functions that we’ve written throughout this book. I used to refer to this as a unit test of the framework functionality. However, this caused confusion with the application developer team. They heard the term unit and assumed I was proposing to take on the unit testing in their code, a job that is always their responsibility. So, to avoid further confusion, we will refer to one test as the framework Sanity test.

The most common types of jobs are Sanity, Smoke, and Regression:

  • The Sanity test is the most basic test of the framework. It is technically an integration test. It performs the browser launch, testing SetValueAdv() by entering credentials pulled from the Secrets storage into input field elements and exercising ClickAdv() by clicking the Login button.
