Overview of this book

This book starts at the beginning by introducing programming through easy to use examples with the Swift Playgrounds app. Kids are regularly encouraged to explore and play with new concepts to support knowledge acquisition and retention – these newly learned skills can then be used to express their own unique ideas. Children will be shown how to create their first iOS application and build their very own movie night application.

Summary

This chapter had Pokémon fighting and hugging. One of the most important lessons we learned was that you shouldn't hug Pikachu. This chapter helped you learn how to create your own custom types and create functions to have instances of your custom type interact with other instances of the same type.

The next chapter will introduce you to Interface Builder. We will now be stepping into one of the more exciting areas of iOS development, which is designing what your application will look like and how it will feel in the hands of someone else.
