Creating a virtual machine using the SCVMM console

In SCVMM, virtual machines can be created directly and placed on hypervisors, or you can place them inside the cloud and a single cloud can have multiple virtual machines running and hosted on it.

Since we have gone through all the steps and seen how to build this base infrastructure by means of adding Hyper-V hosts into SCVMM and creating clouds, let's now go through the creation of virtual machines. In this section on creating virtual machines using the SCVMM console, we will be using SCVMM console to create virtual machines, which will directly be placed on Hyper-V hosts.

To create virtual machines via SCVMM console, the following steps need to be performed:

  1. Open the System Center Virtual Machine Manager console.

  2. Click on the VMs and Services menu on the left-hand side.

  3. Under the VMs and Services menu, find the Hyper-V node from the upper-left corner, right-click on it, and click on Create Virtual Machine.
