Applying welds within a CAD model is sometimes required, not only to give a value for the true manufactured weight of a part (particularly in aerospace) but also to examine how and if the correct weld has been applied to the part, and whether it will exceed or meet the desired safety factors.
In this recipe, you will perform a weld calculation to work out the desired weld size for a two-part welded bracket in the following scenario:

Once the calculation has validated the results, we will further validate with a stress analysis study, including the weldments. Using Weld Calculator will eliminate guesswork and enables us to validate a weld size prior to setting up a stress analysis study.
