Doing something yourself versus coaching someone else to do it is quite different. Just because you can code and develop software, it doesn't mean you can coach and develop others to code.

Developing others involves a lot more than just helping them to code. Since coding is the main body of our work, it's obviously going to be important to help your team to code but remember that your goal as a manager now is to enable developers write more and better software.

As an ex-developer, you have the inside track on life as a developer, from starting out as a junior developer to being more experienced and confident, and maybe now being your company's most senior and go-to guru. This experience is extremely valuable to another developer, especially one who is just starting out.
