Extensions in Microsoft Dynamics NAV allow Microsoft Partners and ISVs to extend the functionality of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV product while keeping the source code intact. It is exactly like adding some add-ons to an Internet browser or to your other Microsoft or non-Microsoft products to enhance the experience. This allows you to not only develop all these add-ons in parallel, but it also helps reduce the maintenance cost on the main system.
