Introduction

In the earlier chapters, we have seen various methods on how to install, configure, scale, and manage Salt as an infrastructure tool. We have also looked at a lot of Salt-specific terminologies, how and where they fit in the tool, and how to use them to achieve our objectives when managing infrastructure.

Starting from this chapter and for the next few chapters, we will learn about some of the most common built-in modules of Salt that can be used to configure our infrastructure, details about how to use them, and various options available and the methods in which to use them to achieve optimum results.

In this chapter, we will look at how to perform the most general system administration tasks and then move on to advanced tasks in the next chapters. Without further delay, let's jump in and get hands on with Salt modules and configuration.
