The powerful scheduling engine within Project is based on CPM. We will now inspect two algorithms that are included in this framework from an overallocation and critical path perspective. These algorithmic techniques are like a double-edged sword because they can harm your schedule if used unwittingly.
Resource leveling is a broad project management technique to optimize resource utilization on a project. In the context of Project, resource leveling often narrows down to resolving resource overallocation. Project provides an automatic and algorithmic-driven tool to level resources. We will study this tool, called Level Resource, in action with an exercise. Refer to the following screenshot:
