Project provides some useful and frequently used special tasks and features, some of which we will explore now. The most commonly used special task is called a milestone.
In project management, a milestone is used to represent a significant event in the project schedule. It is the project manager's discretion to insert milestones into their schedule as they deem fit. A recommended best practice is to use milestones to mark significant deliverables or achievements in the schedule. For example, showing an interim demo to the client is an important milestone. Similarly, ending the development phase can be another significant event to the project team and can be represented in the schedule.
In any schedule, a milestone is just a task with 0 (zero) duration. This makes sense because milestones are just symbolic markers representing certain events, and they should not have any separate work-related duration.
