Reporting or Analytics Snapshot allows us to build trend reports that are based upon historical data. We can either use a tabular or summary report to create a reporting snapshot. The column from the report is mapped to the fields in the custom object. Let's start with a business use case.
Say David Guzman is working as a System Administrator at Universal Containers. He has created a summary report called Accounts without Contacts. He has received a requirement to build a monthly historical trend report based upon the Accounts with Order and Activities summary report to check data improvement. Perform the following steps to solve the preceding business requirement:
We already have a summary report build, that is, Accounts without Contacts.
Create a custom object named Account HB (HB stands for historical backup).
Create a few custom fields in the Account HB custom object, Account Name, Type, and Billing City with the data type text.
