Adjusting the tracks

In this section, we will make some adjustments to the tracks that we created in Chapter 10, Modeling Tank Tracks. Namely, we will fix some alignment issues, which will allow us to create a more realistic rig.

Figure 11.1 shows that the tracks are not correctly aligned with the sprocket. We can see this because parts of the tracks are clipping through the sprocket teeth. There are also visible scaling issues, as the tracks are wider than the gaps between the sprocket teeth:

In the following few steps, we will adjust the curve and the scale of the tracks to make them fit the sprocket correctly:

  1. Scale the track down in Edit Mode, but make sure its length still fits the width of the sprocket. To ensure the length stays the same, scale only on two axes (the Z and Y axes):

Now, the distance between each track is the same as the distance...
