In Chapter 1, Designing a VMware Horizon View Infrastructure, we discussed many roles of the View Connection Server. These roles include:
Managing connections between View clients and View-managed resources including View desktops and Microsoft Windows Terminal Servers
Authenticating user connection requests and providing access to assigned resources
Hosting the View Manager Admin console for the VMware Horizon View infrastructure
Working in tandem with VMware vCenter and View Composer to manage, deploy, and maintain virtual desktops
The following diagram shows the placement of the View Connection Server in a simple View environment. For now, only the View Connection Server is displayed; later chapters will add additional View Servers to this diagram.
