The user-defined storage capabilities that we create are not automatically mapped to the datastores. The reason for this is that these were not learned using VASA.
A vSphere administrator should map the user-defined capabilities to appropriate datastores, based on the information collected by verifying the LUN properties at the storage array.
The storage capabilities can only be assigned on a per-datastore basis. They cannot even be assigned at a datastore cluster level.
In this recipe we will learn how to associate/assign a user-defined storage capability to a datastore.
The following procedure explains how to map the user-defined storage capabilities to the datastores:
From the inventory Home, click on Storage:
Select a datastore from the inventory and navigate to Manage | Profiles, and click on Assign Storage Capability...:
