Working with JSON data

JSON (short for JavaScript Object Notation) is a format for representing and exchanging data between computer systems in a human-readable way. The JSON format has a tree-like structure and supports list and the nesting of elements. Within many applications, JSON has replaced the XML format, being lighter and requiring less disk space.
