One of the biggest features of Silverlight since Version 3 is out-of-browser (OOB). This feature allows us to create an application in Silverlight that will be installed on the user's local machine. Once installed on the user's local machine, our application can interact with the desktop capabilities of the user's machine in various ways. Among the different integrations we get, we can read the machine's network state, show toast notifications, display web content, run applications on full screen, and much more. Silverlight 4 introduced a new powerful mode for OOB applications called elevated trust.
