In a typical infrastructure today, there are generally many silos of technology and responsibilities. Take the following diagram as an example of this:

This provides multiple points of infrastructure management with different UI or API connectivity. Each silo of technology is likely to require in-depth knowledge to manage and maintain. This adds greater complexity to IT management and means it is not easily administered by a single administrator or team.
