In the previous chapter, Managing Workloads in Azure, we looked at how to migrate servers and then manage security updates and protect them with Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery.
In this chapter, we will look at other ways in which we can protect our services – preventing our applications from being overwhelmed and ensuring we control who has access to them. With this in mind, we will investigate the different ways in which we can distribute traffic among backend services using Azure Load Balancer, Traffic Manager, Application Gateway, and Azure Front Door, each of which provide different options depending on your requirements.
Next, we will look at how to secure network-level access to our platform by looking at Network Security Groups (NSG) and Azure Firewall.
Finally, we will examine a tool for specifically securing remote access to VMs.
