Creating visualizations

Once you have created your dataset, you can add visuals to your reports. You can create reports in either Power BI Desktop or the Power BI service. To add a visual, you need to edit a report page.

There are many ways to create a visual, as follows:

  • You can select a visualization and then add fields to the label and value elements.
  • You can drag fields onto the report canvas and Power BI will determine the most appropriate visualization.
  • You can select the appropriate fields and Power BI will select a visual based on the fields you have chosen.

The following screenshot shows a blank report page with the fields in the right-hand pane and the visualizations in the pane to the left of these fields:

There are many types of visualization available, and visuals have many properties that affect how they appear on reports. This level of detail is outside the scope of the PL-200 exam.
