Filters are Jira's way of searching for issues that exist in your instance that can be used as a base for further insight and reporting/sharing or to find a single issue that you are looking for. Perhaps the easiest way is to access these through Issues View, as discussed in the Viewing issues section earlier in this chapter. That will allow you to create a simple filter, which can then be used to see a list of issues immediately, or it can be saved and used as a base for building a dashboard.
Alternatively, you can click on the search box found in the top navigation menu. Once inside the search box, click on the Advanced issue search link, as illustrated in the following screenshot. Finally, you can also click on the Filters menu option at the bottom of the page:
