Moodle 4 Administration

Communication is a key feature in Moodle as it enhances the learning experience of all users involved. Moodle supports synchronous and asynchronous communication, which has to be configured by the administrator and is the topic of this section. We have also added a small section on contacting support since it is perceived as a relevant communication topic in the Moodle administration context. Let’s start with synchronous communication.
We will cover two types of synchronous communication in Moodle: instant messaging and web conferencing, both of which will be discussed in the following subsections.
Moodle’s inbuilt facility for instant messaging is the Chat activity, which is used in courses or on the home page. The configuration of the module is presented – I couldn’t resist – as a Moodle chat:
