Phishing remains one of the most prevalent types of cyberattacks facing both individuals and organizations. A report from Kaspersky, a security products vendor, indicated that in the second quarter of 2019, its host-based security tools detected approximately 130 million phishing attacks globally. Furthermore, the company estimated that spam currently makes up 57.6% of global email traffic. The leading countries from which spam originates are China (contributing 23.7%), the United States (13.8%), and Russia (4.8%). Additionally, Kaspersky stated that phishing attacks had risen by 21% when 2019 statistics were compared to those collected in 2018.
