Summary

In this chapter, we have looked at the many changes that have been made to the BI and application reporting structures in SharePoint 2019. Microsoft has moved in a new direction and removed much of the BI functionality from its former integration into SharePoint. Now, the services must be connected to from the cloud or even separate servers to our SharePoint 2019 farm. This change also complicates your overall migration strategy as these changes must be planned for. This adds a measure of complexity to your migration.

For instance, if you want to migrate SSR reports from previous versions of SharePoint, you would need to do this by utilizing the migration script referenced in this book. This script is provided by Microsoft and is also linked and available on the Microsoft website. It is best to inform your user community of the BI reporting changes that Microsoft has made before migration, and then get your user community accustomed to the deprecated and removed features...
