Each table space is associated with a buffer pool, when you create a table space. This IBMDEFAULTBP buffer pool will be used if you do not specify one.
You should create the buffer pools first, before creating your table spaces.
Get your Operating System's memory configuration and database software's capacity. Determine if you want to use self memory tuning on this database, or manual memory tuning. As you will associate table spaces to buffer pools, it is important to match the buffer pool page size to the page size of the table space.
