Accessing Generative Recolor in Adobe Illustrator

Generative Recolor enables you to use Generative AI from Adobe Firefly, simply typing in a prompt that is applied to your vector drawings. This feature has been added only recently to Adobe Illustrator at the time of writing and is so easy to learn. The following steps will get you started:

  1. To save time, you can download and open the Illustrator file I used in this chapter using this link: https://tinyurl.com/generativerecolorfile.
  2. Select the drawing paths needed by pressing Cmd/Ctrl + A to select them all.
  3. Go to the Edit menu, hover your cursor over Edit Colors, and click Generative Recolor, as shown in Figure 5.4.

  1. Click on any of the sample prompts or type in your own custom prompt to apply it to your current project. See Figure 5.5 for the final result.
