On March 21, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the first global resolution on AI. This non-binding resolution suggests that countries protect privacy and human rights and should watch out for risks from AI.
This resolution was needed because there are fears that AI could be “used to disrupt democratic processes, turbocharge fraud or lead to dramatic job losses, among other harms.” [Reuters].
