Deployment of operating systems is the most sophisticated feature available on the ConfigMgr server. To get all of the most useful functionalities out of that feature, one would need to know not only ConfigMgr server, but also some topics unrelated to ConfigMgr, such as:
- The operating system installation process
- Available possibilities of controlling the operating system installation process
- Creation and management of operating system templates
It doesn't really matter which operating system deployment tool we are talking about, be it Windows Deployment Service, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, or ConfigMgr server--without having a knowledge base of the aforementioned topics, it would be really hard to do anything related to operating system deployment.
Only by having knowledge about the process itself is it possible to choose a tool for OS deployment...
