Despite all of the positive things CoEs can bring to the organization, they can also bring a lot of problems with them. In this section, you will learn what pitfalls need to be avoided when establishing Scrum CoEs and how to avoid them.
Agile practices, in general, seek to eliminate hierarchical and bureaucratic structures. The goals and objectives map back to the Product Backlog, which is the prioritized list of items that add the highest value to a product or service under development. The Product Owner collaborates with the development team to refine the backlog and establish Sprint Goals. The Scrum Master facilitates events and removes impediments. The CoEs must support those efforts.
