Summary

The Noise modifier has endless other uses – earthquakes, flickering lights, objects blowing in the wind – in a pinch they can even be used on the bones of a character to make them look more alive while they’re just standing there. What a terrific feature! Oh – and those other modifiers we learned about were cool too, I guess.

Another thing that’s cool is how much we were able to accomplish with no keyframes except for the mandatory ones we had to insert at the beginning. After adding modifiers, even those keyframes can be deleted, and the F-curve will stick around (don’t do that, though). Personally, I enjoy procedural animation techniques that require little to no keying. However, keep in mind that modifiers don’t have to replace the regular animation process; they can also work in addition to whatever else we want the F-curves to do.

Sometimes it’s fun to let go, add hardly any keyframes, and let Blender procedurally...
